There are guides for this update!

See Java Edition guides/Tiny Takeover and Bedrock Edition guides/Tiny Takeover for a guide to all of the new features introduced in Tiny Takeover.

Tiny Takeover is a game drop released on March 24, 2026[3] as Java Edition 26.1 and Bedrock Edition 26.10. Its theme is "cuteness" and "emotional attachment with mobs".[4] It visually overhauls baby mobs and rabbits, giving them distinct models rather than scaled-down adult versions. The update also makes name tags craftable, and adds the golden dandelion, which when fed to baby mobs, stops them from aging until fed another one.

During development, the update was referred to as Drop 1 of 2026. The final name of the update was revealed on Minecraft.net and Minecraft Monthly on March 3, 2026.[5][6]

Some features of this drop were released as part of an experiment in Bedrock Edition 26.0.

On March 24, a skin pack entitled Tiny Takeover: Mob Caretakers was released, consisting of three characters themed after the mobs added in the update. An add-on, Tiny Takeover: Mini Mania, was announced the next day.[11]

Social Media Takeover

[edit | edit source]

Beginning with the announcement of the title in Minecraft Monthly, the update was marketed with the gimmick of baby or otherwise small mobs "taking over" the Minecraft franchise. Within the announcement, there is a running gag of Tiny Agnes and Tiny Vu trying to hack the show and host it instead. On the same day, Minecraft.net was updated with several baby mobs infesting design elements, peeking out of a link to Spring to Life - Official Minecraft Trailer, hovering the Mounts of Mayhem site header, and appearing on the icons for various social media platforms.[12] In the article about the name, Linn Viberg's Mojavatar became covered in chicks, and several previously released promotional images were altered to show chicks interacting with the borders.[5]

This extended even after Minecraft LIVE – March 2026 was announced, with both a trailer and promotional video featuring a takeover of chicks.[13] Within the show itself, the sets were even decorated to be overflowing with baby mobs, giving the appearance of a taken over space. Another trailer was also released, once again centering around babies invading Minecraft. Once the update released, changelogs used images of this same scenario; one in a field full of them,[14] the others seemingly chasing Efe.[15]
