A cherry grove is a mountain slope and plateau biome similar to meadows, filled with cherry trees.

Generation

[edit | edit source]

Cherry groves generate on the slope of mountains, standalone on plateaus, or as valleys inside mountain rings, in the medium temperature zones. This allows for a wide variety in shapes and terrain; they can often generate as "microbiomes" of only a few blocks wide; as plateaus stretching hundreds of blocks; or a thin slope surrounding massive mountains. Cherry grove biomes can also form mountain rings on their own.

On the valley side of cherry groves, they border sunflower plains or plains, while they border frozen peaks and snowy slopes on the mountain side. They can border meadows or savanna plateaus when the temperature changes, and forests and groves when humidity increases.

Rarely, cherry groves can also generate in cold temperature zones and border ice spikes.

Mountains with cherry groves are often separated from meadow and jagged peaks mountains or flower forests by rivers or dry valleys.

Description

[edit | edit source]

Cherry groves have a lush green grass color with a slight arid tone. The ground is covered by more short grass, pink petals, and some tall grass. The main environmental features of the cherry grove are cherry trees identified by their pink leaves. Their leaves drop many petal particles in the atmosphere. Bee nests with bees generate somewhat commonly on the sides of cherry trees. The cherry trees can generate densely enough to create a cover of leaves.

Just like in meadows, emerald ore can be found here, especially at higher altitudes, and both coal and iron ore are commonly found here. Infested blocks also naturally generate in cherry groves. Villages cannot generate here, but pillager outposts can. In Java Edition, unlike most Overworld biomes, sugar canes and pumpkin patches cannot generate here. Abandoned camps sometimes generate in cherry groves.[upcoming: Third Drop 2026]

In Bedrock Edition, cherry groves are cold and allow snowfall above Y=200±8, however, this never occurs on natural terrain.

Passive mobs that spawn here are limited to pigs, sheep, and rabbits.

The following mobs naturally spawn here:
