A bamboo jungle is a variant of the jungle with dense bamboo growth and large jungle trees. Pandas are abundant in this biome.

Generation

[edit | edit source]

The bamboo jungle generates in areas with moderately high temperature, very high humidity and positive weirdness. They typically border sparse jungles, dark forests, deserts, wooded badlands, mangrove swamps and sometimes windswept forests. At higher elevations they transition to regular jungles and stony peaks. They may also be separated from regular jungles by rivers. In coastal areas they border lukewarm oceans.

Due to their very high humidity values, bamboo jungles are almost guaranteed to have lush caves generate below them; however, when the bamboo jungle is generated far inland, dripstone caves may generate under the bamboo jungle instead.

Description

[edit | edit source]

Oaks, jungle trees, and jungle bushes are much sparser in this variant than in the regular jungle, but denser than in the sparse jungle. Jungle trees are always large 2Γ—2 variants; thus cocoa beans from small jungle trees cannot be found here.

Melon patches are as common as in regular variants. Some swaths of grass blocks are replaced with podzol with dense forests of bamboo generating on top. All jungle-exclusive mobs spawn here, and pandas have a higher spawn rate. Jungle pyramids may generate here in Java Edition.

Abandoned camps sometimes generate in bamboo jungles.[upcoming: Third Drop 2026]

With Vibrant Visuals, bamboo jungles use a strong humid volumetric fog setting similar to jungles, which fades the distance in an orange tint. Bamboo jungles have warmish color grading, which makes the biome look more humid and warm. The night sky appears slightly brighter, and moonlight is colored more vibrant blue.
