The jungle is a lush biome with dense vegetation of jungle trees, oak trees, bamboo, and various smaller plants. Jungles generate in humid and warm areas, often next to forests, and their sparse and bamboo variants.

Generation

[edit | edit source]

Jungles generate in semi-warm temperature areas and high humidity, bordering forests, plains, deserts, wooded badlands, birch forests and dark forests. Regular jungles are often separated from sparse jungles or bamboo jungles by rivers.

Jungles can generate in any type of terrain, bordering mangrove swamps and windswept savannas at high erosion, or mountain peaks in low erosion or far inland. Mountains in jungles always consist of stony peaks, often separated by forests on the slopes.

Lush caves are common underneath jungle biomes due to their high humidity.

Description

[edit | edit source]

Jungles contain many types of vegetation densely packed together. Tall 2Γ—2 jungle trees are common with many branches and vines, growing over 30 blocks in height. Small jungle trees with cocoa beans or the even smaller jungle bushes generate on the ground, together with oaks that are more commonly large.

The lush green grass is vegetated by ferns and vines everywhere. Melon patches are exclusive to jungle biomes, and they generate somewhat more often than pumpkin patches do in other biomes. Single bamboo plants are scattered in the jungle. Dandelions and poppies are twice as common as in most other biomes.

Parrots, ocelots, and pandas exclusively spawn in jungle biomes, together with warm animal variants.

Jungle pyramids may generate exclusively here. As these temples are partially made of mossy cobblestone and also covered in vines, they can prove hard to spot from a distance due to the density of the trees.

In Bedrock Edition, cod and salmon are the only fish which may be caught when fishing in jungles. Otherwise, bamboo and cocoa beansβ€Œ[BE only] can also be collected.

With Vibrant Visuals, jungles use a strong humid volumetric fog setting, which fades the distance in an orange tint. Jungles use warmish and color grading, which makes the biome look more humid and warm. The night sky is slightly brighter and moonlight colored more vibrant blue.

In Java Edition, jungle biomes are significantly more resource-demanding to load and render compared to other biomes. Thus, players exploring in jungles may wish to turn down their graphics settings to avoid lag and FPS drops.[1]
