The forest is a lush biome densely wooded with oak and birch trees. Woods wolves spawn here. The forest is the most common surface biome in Minecraft, making up about 12% of the Overworld's area.
Forest biomes generate in temperate, warm, and cold zones with a medium humidity. In mountainous jungles, forests generate more commonly as slope or plateau biomes bordering stony peaks.
This means that forests can border almost any other biome. Most commonly, they border plains and birch forests.
Forests feature dense trees compared to other biomes. Lilies of the valley, rose bushes, peonies and lilacs generate in this biome. Bushes generate here in small patches, and leaf litter is scattered on the ground underneath trees.
Wolves spawn commonly in forest and use their woods variant. Bees from bee nests on trees are found as well.
Abandoned camps sometimes generate in forests.β[upcoming: Third Drop 2026]
