Missing Java Edition versions

From Minecraft Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

This page lists versions of Java Edition which are currently assumed to be missing; i.e. there is definitive proof that these versions exist and were released to the public, however copies of said version are not available through the official launcher or through publicly-accessible unofficial archives.

A list of screenshots of these versions with proof of their legitimacy can be found at Missing Java Edition versions/Screenshots. A list of videos can be found at Missing Java Edition versions/Videos.

Skipped version numbers

[edit | edit source]

The following versions are assumed/implied to have been skipped – these versions have no proof of existence, other than the implicit proof of being part of a version number sequence. For instance, there is no proof for "0.0.14a_02" other than 0.0.14a_01 and 0.0.14a_03 both having been released.

Versions labeled "definite version skip" are confirmed to be skipped version numbers as opposed to the possibility of simply being an undocumented and unarchived version of the game.

Classic

[edit | edit source]
0.0.1a
Likely version skip; 0.0.2a was mentioned several times at the time of its release and 0.0.1a received no such mentions. Notch likely thought of the early Classic private alpha versions as being collectively reuploads of what would be "0.0.1a".
0.0.4a
0.0.5a
0.0.6a
0.0.7a
0.0.8a
Notch likely skipped straight from 0.0.3a to 0.0.9a, due to either confusion stemming from the al_version being used (0.0.9a had al_version 0.9, so it was likely 0.7 or 0.8 for 0.0.2a~0.0.3a), or due to Notch wanting 0.0.10a to be the first public showcase of the game.
0.0.13a_01
0.0.13a_02
0.0.14a_02
0.25_01 SURVIVAL TEST
Definite version skip: actually released under the name "0.25 SURVIVAL TEST" as a reupload.
0.25_02 SURVIVAL TEST
Definite version skip: actually released under the name "0.25 SURVIVAL TEST" as a reupload.
0.25_03 SURVIVAL TEST
Definite version skip: actually released under the name "0.25 SURVIVAL TEST" as a reupload.
0.25_04 SURVIVAL TEST
Definite version skip.
