The October 2016 Update is an update to all Legacy Console Editions except Nintendo Switch Edition. It is based on Java Edition 1.10.

• Added Frost Walker and Mending enchantments

• Added sounds for witches, squid, snow golems, armor stands, cows, horses, item frames, leash knots, and paintings
• Added a sound for milking cows.

• Added the Chinese Mythology Mash-Up Pack

• Added bone blocks, nether wart blocks, red nether bricks, magma blocks, and end stone bricks to the Tumble mini game

End portal frames

• Added a particle effect when placing an eye of ender inside.

Huge mushrooms

• Now have a chance of growing twice as tall as normal.

Stained clay

• Are now named "Hardened Clay" (e.g., "White Hardened Clay").

Gold ore

• Now generates in mesa biomes between Y=32 and Y=79.

Shears

• Are no longer able to be enchanted with Silk Touch.

Villages

• Now spawn with grass paths.
• Are no longer restricted by biome boundaries.
• Now have bridges when generated over water.
• There's now a small chance for villages to spawn as zombie villages
• Farms now include beetroots.

Mineshafts

• Now generate in mesa biomes - previously they did not spawn at all, even underground.^[verify]

Loot chests

• Updated loot for loot chests in dungeons, temples, mineshafts etc.

Plains and sunflower plains

• Now have a chance to generate trees.

Endermen

• Now spawn in the Nether.

Elder guardians

• Now drop dry sponges instead of wet sponges.

Pigs

• Can be led and bred with potatoes and beetroots, in addition to carrots.

Health

• Health regenerates faster when saturation is not empty and the player is not hungry: 1HP👁 💔
  per half-second versus 1HP👁 💔
  per 4 seconds.
• Health regeneration increases exhaustion faster: now 4 exhaustion points (1 food point) per 1HP👁 💔
  instead of 3 (³⁄₄ food points).

Enchantments

• Nerfed the Sharpness enchantment.

Sleeping

• Changed the sleeping animation.

• Updated all Texture and Mash-up Packs with new items & blocks.
• Explosions no longer deal knockback to players, which are flying in Creative mode.
• Replaced the "Show Description", "Show Ingredients" and "Show Inventory" tooltips in the crafting menu with "Info".
