The first snapshot for the nether update is out, and with it came 2 new types of "Wood", They are not called logs, nor are they found in the overworld, but behave so similarly to wood. Should we make them their own page, or put them here? - Bugjuice8 (talk) 02:46, 6 February 2020 (UTC)

- The hardness of stems is said to be 1 (half the one of logs) in this page, but it seems to me that stems have the same hardness as logs, am I wrong? 93.47.226.170 09:26, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
- You are not wrong. Crimson and warped stems have hardness 2. It's quite obvious in-game (you can't instamine them), but I also checked the code (using forge 1.16.3) to make sure.
- I'm not really sure how to fix this thoroughly. The hardness in the infobox is in this page, but the one in the "Obtaining" section is generated by some template that I don't understand. 77.181.51.135 22:40, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
Crimson/Warped Stems as Charcoal ingredients
[edit source]
The Nether stems can't be used as ingredients in a smelter, but they show up in the recipe. I don't know how to update that part myself.

While Stems are similar to Logs, they are found in different dimensions, have completely opposite burning properties, and are part of Huge Fungus instead of Trees. I propose the two stem block be moved to their own page at Stem, with the current Stem disambiguation page being moved to Stem (disambiguation)- Mudscape (talk) 04:06, 30 September 2023 (UTC)

Support I think this would shorten down the log page a decent amount. Stems are clearly distinct from logs even if they're the same type of block. Mojang clearly wants to add more log-type blocks without them being strictly the same, as we can see with block of bamboo, which is clearly a log block but its distinct from the normal logs. I think that's a sign that not every single log-type block needs to be kept onto this page. - Harristic | Talk 👁 DungeonsEntitySprite penguin-onesie.png: Sprite image for penguin-onesie in Minecraft

Strong support splitting stems and logs, as well as wood and hyphae.--Capopanzo (talk | contribs) 13:59, 4 October 2023 (UTC)

Support I also think it's important to realize that players new to the game are likely coming across the Nether stems much later than any of the log types listed here. This page is likely overwhelming them with too much content. | violine1101 (talk) 22:05, 6 October 2023 (UTC)

Weak support for the split between logs → logs/stems; and wood → wood/hypae. 👁 Image
Strong support for splitting stripped logs/stems/wood/hyphae from regular logs/stems/wood/hyphae. A lot of the ways of obtaining normal logs/stems/wood/hypae do not apply to stripped logs/stems/wood/hypae, so looking at how to obtain stripped variants means scrolling through so much clutter from regular variants. Also stripped versions came much later than regular versions, so it would declutter the history section for stripped versions as well. Delvin4519 (talk) 21:38, 7 October 2023 (UTC)

Support Logs and stems, and wood and hyphae, aren't the same and don't necessarily need to be on the same page. Jjlrjjlr (talk) 19:19, 19 October 2023 (UTC)

Hello, I would like to know how to rephrase the introduction part of the page to document that pale oak will be added in the next update. The biggest problem is that I can't just use {{until}} tags, because it isn't explicit that the drop will be 1.22, as that could also be the Bundles of Bravery. I'm just asking if it's okay to use {{until}} without parameters, because it feels wrong, but if {{upcoming}} is being used without parameters, we might as well. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 05:15, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
- P.S. I'll just change the paragraph to use
{{until}} right now. Please revert if it's inappropriate. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 05:17, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
The Java Edition history of this article states that oak log (called "wood" at the time mansions were added) and dark oak log is able to generate in woodland mansions. Though the woodland mansion article only lists dark oak logs, not regular oak log. Is this a mistake? I am a bit confused. BugsbugsbugsMinecraftWiki (talk) 14:52, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- To my knowledge, oak logs can't generate in woodland mansions, but it might have changed since 1.11 or I might be wrong. I think you should use
/place structure to place a bunch of woodland mansions and look for oak logs, then do something similar in the version mansions were added. If you can't do it right now, just add a {{needs testing}} tag to that history line. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 10:07, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
- Note: I already tagged that history line with
{{needs testing}}. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 10:11, 2 October 2024 (UTC)

- Hanging signs cannot be made purely from wood, so they are intentionally excluded. Shelves have been added though. 👁 align=top

I'm thinking of adding the wood color map, but the problem is that it will make the infobox quite long. Is there a problem with that? It would include all these lines:
|mapcolor=
