Tool Overview: Stack AI

Description

Stack AI is a no-code platform that enables the creation of AI-powered applications for teaching and learning. It allows faculty, staff, and students to build custom chatbots, simulations, and other interactive tools without coding experience. This tool is currently available for experimental use at MIT Sloan.

Canvas Integration

Yes. Custom Stack AI applications can be added to the Course Navigation Menu in Canvas.

How to Get Access

Account Eligibility and Approval Guidelines

• Intended Use: Stack AI accounts provided by Sloan Technology Services are intended for MIT Sloan faculty and students building AI-powered applications, whether for course projects or their own learning.
• Account Limitations: LLM token usage and the number of individual projects in Stack AI are subject to limits based on overall system usage. To help ensure resources remain available across the broader community, archive unused projects and make reasonable efforts to optimize active projects to avoid excessive token consumption.

Privacy and Security Considerations

• Restrict data usage to low/medium risk data.
• Only use approved LLMs.
• For questions, validation of your approach, or to discuss using other LLMs, consult with MIT Sloan Technology Services Office of Information Security.

Request an Account

• For Coursework:
  • If Stack AI is being used for a class activity, assignment, or project and Editor access is needed for all students in the course, MIT Sloan faculty should request Stack AI access on behalf of their students through Sloan Technology Services.
    • Students should not submit individual requests in this case.
  • When requesting accounts for students,, download the CSV template, add the required student information (first names, last names, MIT email addresses), and attach the completed CSV file to the form.
    • Student information can be copied directly from the Membership Tool in your Canvas site.
• For Individual Student Use:
  • MIT Sloan students who want to use Stack AI for independent academic work that is not required as part of a course may request Editor access by submitting the Stack AI Access Request Form. Requests must be for academic purposes.

Request a Consultation (Optional)

1. To request a Stack AI consultation, complete this form.
   • When filling out the form, select Request consultation on leveraging AI in your course from the Select Reason drop-down menu.
2. Once you submit your request, it will be reviewed, and you’ll receive a response within 3 business days.
3. Our team will schedule a 30-minute consultation with you on Zoom.

Login to Stack AI

1. Go to Stack AI’s website: https://www.stack-ai.com/sso
2. Enter your @mit.edu email address and click Continue.
3. Login with your MIT Kerberos credentials (username and password) via MIT Touchstone (single sign-on, SSO).

Critical Reminder: Always login to Stack AI using SSO to ensure you have full access to the Enterprise account features. If you log in without SSO, you’ll be limited to a Free (basic) account.

Note: If you don’t log in with SSO, a separate, Free account will be created under your MIT email, restricting your access to the Enterprise features. If you need to migrate any projects created in a Free account, contact Stack AI for assistance.

Stay Organized with Your “My Projects” Folder

As an Editor, you have a private folder called “My Projects,” which is set as your default workspace. Use this folder to store and manage your projects.

Tip: You can share your entire “My Projects” folder to collaborate with others or share individual projects selectively, depending on your needs. This flexibility allows you to keep personal work private while seamlessly collaborating on specific projects when necessary.
