The bastion is a fortress led by several different piglins, considered the largest in the Nether. During its tenure under the Great Bungus, it served as the site of a feud with their former advisor Kritten, which snowballed into a conflict spread between both the Nether and Overworld.

The bastion is situated inside of a crimson forest biome, considered a strategically safe location. Dense fungi with luminous shroomlights surround every side of the complex, making it easy to get lost upon leaving.

According to Kritten, the bastion's walls are likely vulnerable to outside attacks, suggesting the bastion was in ruin. This is demonstrated early on, where a piglin is able to spot them from a rampart above the bastion while they were inside, and calls out for their capture.

The entrance to the bastion is a set of large doors at the end of a hallway, with a large rampart built above, staffed by piglin archers.

Throughout the bastion are several halls, connecting the majority of rooms, particularly the throne room and entrance. During their rushed leave from the fortress, Kritten scavenged for supplies within the halls, including various fungi, a sack of gold, and an axe.

The Throne Room is the heart of the bastion, wherever whoever deemed Great works to command the piglins. During the Great Bungus' reign, there were several guards staffed in this room, while Bungus themself sat on a throne chiseled out of blackstone.

The bastion has existed in the Nether for many years, having had at least five leaders, including the mysterious Grungert. Through unclear circumstances, Kritten discovered a piglin bully named Bungus, and sensed some potential for a revolution. Using their combined knowledge and strength, the two managed to claim the bastion for themselves, Bungus taking the throne.
