The Nameless Kingdom

The wind-blown sands of the Desert Temple have wiped away the traces of a vast and ancient kingdom. Yet secretive power still lingers here. The enchanters of this ancient, nameless kingdom once practiced necromancy, magic that summons the dead. Now, generations later, the Illagers have arrived to try and pry power from these dusty tombs. Who knows what power they may find, but something else also protects these dusty crypts...

Desert Temple is the eighth mainland mission in Minecraft Dungeons. It is unlocked after the completion of Cacti Canyon, and completing Desert Temple unlocks Highblock Halls if Fiery Forge has also been completed.

It always generates the Lower Levels optional sub dungeon that contains a scroll which, if collected, unlocks the Lower Temple secret mission. Desert Temple is counted as a boss mission for Apocalypse Plus progression, due to it containing the Nameless One.

Appearance and description

[edit | edit source]

DESERT TEMPLE – Deep within these halls awaits a powerful necromancer, the forgotten ruler of an ancient kingdom. The necromancer wields an enchanted staff with the power to summon the Undead. You must destroy it before the Arch-Illager's tiny, evil hands can claim it.

Guide to Minecraft Dungeons:
A Handbook for Heroes

Desert Temple is the hallmark of an "ancient, nameless kingdom" and consists of rooms and corridors made of sand-covered stone bricks that feature illuminated water pools, chains, decorated pots and carpet, palm trees, and cobwebs. Dangerous traps like crushers, spike traps, and metal blades are scattered around the temple, all of which can heavily damage heroes and knock them into chasms. A yellow locked gateway blocks the path near the start of the mission, requiring a gold key golem to be collected from an area to the south-east. Near the key golem, a lever hidden behind some foliage can be activated to reveal the entrance door of Desert Temple Rune Room.[note 1] Near the end of the mission, the Nameless One can be found surrounded by five kneeling vanguards, resting atop a stone structure after having broken the alliance with the Arch-Illager in the time since the events of The Rise of the Arch-Illager novel. After defeating the Nameless One, heroes can travel to the exit of the temple to the north-west.

[edit | edit source]

Deep within these halls awaits a powerful necromancer, the forgotten ruler of a nameless kingdom. The necromancer wields an enchanted staff that holds the power to summon the undead. We must destroy it before the Arch-Illager can claim it in his tiny, evil hands. That would surely be the doom of us all...
