A Temple Atop the Peaks

A temple rises from the towering peaks where the winds are woven into the ancient sanctum's very structure. Harness the wind's power and claim undiscovered treasures, but mind the ancient protector within: the Tempest Golem.

Gale Sanctum is the seventh island realms mission in Minecraft Dungeons, and is part of the Howling Peaks DLC. It is unlocked after the completion of Windswept Peaks, and completing Gale Sanctum does not unlock any missions. Gale Sanctum is counted as a boss mission for Apocalypse Plus progression, due to it containing the Tempest Golem.

Appearance and description

[edit | edit source]

Gale Sanctum is a massive, highly-decorated temple built atop a mountain peak. It is composed of marble structures with gold and jade adornments, and is connected by several indoor and outdoor segments. It features windmills, wind beacons, gold plant pots, propeller-activated pulleys, ambush pillars that release wind bursts, white glowing lanterns, water channels, banners, marble pipes used to direct wind currents, swinging lamps, and symbols with glowing eyes that depict the Tempest Golem. The starting area of the mission takes place in a small outdoor section at the entrance of the sanctum, with a wind pipe puzzle and inactive squall golem up the stairs to the north-east. Completing the puzzle activates the squall golem, and grants access to the entrance door of the first indoor part of the sanctum, called Gauntlet. Gauntlet consists of several propeller-activated pulleys suspended above a chasm coated in green fog, pulleys that must be used to reach the exit at the north-east side of the room. A wind ambush pillar must be defeated to lower surrounding gates, granting access to several optional ambushes to the north-west and the entrance door of Grand Hallway to the north-east. Grand Hallway is the second indoor section of the sanctum, and begins with a descent down several golden staircases with an optional ravager ambush activated by pressing a button. Defeating the ravager lowers the gate to the east, granting access to Skyroom, an optional sub dungeon. To the south in Grand Hallway, three wind beacons must be activated in order to progress further, and shortly afterward a button must be pressed to lower a gate, a button which also activates more squall golems. Further to the south, another wind ambush pillar must be defeated, and afterward another ambush must be defeated in the area after the staircase to grant access to a button. Activating said button creates a gust of wind that lowers the gate to the west, granting access to a room with a wind box puzzle. Completing said puzzle extends a platform to the north-west, where a final room containing a wind pipe puzzle can be found. To complete this puzzle, two buttons to the north-east must be used, with the right one controlling the pipe and the left one activating the wind. Completion of the puzzle lowers the gate, granting access to Lower Gauntlet, the third indoor section of the sanctum which contains multiple wind puzzles and an ambush to the north-west. Completing all of the wind puzzles in Lower Gauntlet will lower the gate at the center of the room, granting access to an area with a yellow locked gateway, which can be unlocked using the gold key golem found inside a box at the south-east corner of Lower Gauntlet. After opening the locked gateway, another button must be pressed to grant access to the exit door of Lower Gauntlet, a button which also activates a squall golem. The exit door leads to the second outdoor section of the sanctum, at the start of which a supplies chest can be found. At the west-most part of this area, several spring platforms must be used to ascend up the sanctum while avoiding several windmill blades. An ambush at the top of the area must be defeated to grant access to the entrance door of Higher Gauntlet, as well as a fancy chest to the north-east. Higher Gauntlet is the fourth and final indoor section of the sanctum, and is made up of thin marble pipes that serve as walkways. Navigating across the pipes to the north-west corner of the room grants access to another wind ambush pillar which, if defeated, grants access to the arena containing an inactive Tempest Golem and eight inactive squall golems. Activating the button in front of the Tempest Golem starts the boss fight, and defeating said boss fight grants access to a small treasure area and the exit door of the sanctum which, if entered, ends the mission.

Voiceovers

[edit | edit source]

A wind-swept temple rises from the towering peaks, and those who dare to brave these gusty halls must harness the power of the wind itself. Deep within the sanctum, past the whipping winds and dangerous deadly drops, a mighty Tempest Golem has been corrupted by the shard's influence, and must be destroyed.

— Opening voiceover

As the Tempest Golem and the shard are destroyed, a soothing breeze breathes new life into the land.

[edit | edit source]
Minecraft Dungeons
October 3, 2020Howling Peaks announced during Minecraft Live 2020, with the release date set to be somewhere in December 2020.
1.5.0.0Added unfinished voiceover and ambience audio into the game files.
1.7.2.0Added Gale Sanctum.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • The location depicted in the loading screen of Gale Sanctum is Gauntlet, a required sub dungeon.
  • Inside the fountains found in the areas where squall golems rest, a block resembling an end portal frame can be seen as the water conduit. According to the developers, this is merely a level decoration and is not meant to indicate a connection to The End.
  • The ambient music that plays in this mission changes to Stairs in the area shortly before the spring platforms and windmills.
  • Despite this mission's name being Gale Sanctum, it uses the music tracks "Outside" and "Stairs". The music track "Gale Sanctum" is instead used by Gauntlet of Gales and Gauntlet Gales.
