Minecraft Wiki:Bot requests

Per MCW:CAPS, all-caps should be phased out. I've tried renaming pages where I can, but Minecon and Minecraft Live are mentioned on hundreds of pages, and a few have already been moved in the past. Realshow19 (talk) 16:26, 14 March 2026 (UTC)

Hello, I'd like to request changing all == Appearances and media == (some headings don't have spaces between the equal signs and the section name) into == History of appearances == in the Story Mode namespace.

The "and media" part is too redundant since it also just means appearances but in other media. It cant be simply "Appearances" because that's too close to existing "Appearance" sections. "History of appearances" is already used outside the namespace, the sections should be consistent with those. 👁 Image

"Appearances in other media" wouldn't work since the sections list episodes in the same game in most pages, only a few subjects appear outside the game. 👁 Image

Okay I'm back. I've decided not to start a discussion in Discord because it is unnecessary and too tedious for such a minor change, not everything needs to be discussed by a committee. The name "Appearances" is unlikely to be confused with the "Appearance" section, since their contents are very different and they're placed far apart.

I request that all instances of "History of appearances" and "Appearances and media" in Movie, Story Mode, and mainspace be renamed to just "Appearances". 👁 Image

I request someone to replace all links in the wiki to Enchanting to lead to Enchantment instead, including piped links, and also change any redirect targets. Most of the content has already been moved to the latter page according to Forum:Rewrite enchanting . I found a lot of sound tables (subpages of {{sound table}}, e.g., {{Sound table/Entity/Angry Wolf/JE}}) incorrectly use hyphens instead of en dashes. Can someone use a bot to fix all of them? ‑‑MinecraftExp123^{(talk|contribs)} 02:03, 27 March 2026 (UTC)

Update: I just substituted all of the sound tables on the wolf page as they're all literally just transcluded once, creating a maintenance nightmare. I think it's more convenient to just edit Module:SoundTable to replace - with –. 👁 Image

Recently, after the first Java snapshot for Chaos Cubed released, someone added that to the history section of all blocks that can be put in sulfur cubes. However, they all used "snap 1" instead of the correct "snap1". There are a lot of these pages, making it tedious to do manually, as seen in Special:Search/"snap 1". This topic doesn't really belong here, but: no. We don't need to protect pages when nothing has happened. Besides, they are already semi-protected, so new users can't edit them anyways, and I seriously doubt a non-new editor would try to unnecessarily edit the closed forum pages. Full potection would just make future maintenance edits harder to perform 👁 Image

Mitsos fixed the majority of these tags manually, back in December 2025. Now it's just those issue pages that have yet to be fixed due to them being sysop-protected. - RedX (talk) 19:11, 9 June 2026 (UTC)

Iirc, a lot of those are related to MCW:Issues which have a special level of protection from editing (managed by abuse filter and not regular page protection) for archival purposes. I'm not sure if its intended to prevent against accidentaly fixing lint errors since its managed explicitly by an abuse filter and not regular full protection, but I can see an argument for not fixing lint errors in this case for historical purposes. Please change the [[Category:Infobox templates]] code in the documentations of these templates in the I part to the first letter of the second word of the template name (e.g. change to [[Category:Infobox templates|A]] on Template:Infobox attribute/doc), to make them sorted normally.
