Since they are different types of trees, deleting two would not make sense. It might make more sense to move one to "Leaves.png", since it belongs to half of the types of trees. The others would be deleted. The BlobsπŸ‘ Image

Just realized that this has been completed, but the originals have not been marked for deletion yet. Before marking them for deletion, though, we should probably get a bot to change all file links that are for Acacia Leaves, Oak Leaves, or Dark Oak Leaves, and change them to the File:Leaves.png.--Madminecrafter12 (talk) 20:33, 13 January 2018 (UTC)

Disagree, the beta texture pack to test out the new official textures shows that all of these will gain different textures. Why waste resources that will have to be undone in the near future. --Pepijn (talk) 23:36, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
Do you mean in the upcoming Texture Update? If so, I agree, as I downloaded the new textures, and the 3 types of leaves will be different after this update. Also, as all of the texture changes have already been completed, I suspect that the update will come out pretty soon.--Madminecrafter12 (talk) 02:59, 14 January 2018 (UTC)

13w43a in history shows incorrect icons

[edit source]
Latest comment: 4 April 20202 comments2 people in discussion

Both icons shown for snapshot 13w43a in history are the same image, and neither are the same as the trees being mentioned. jjlr (talk) 11:25, 12 April 2018 (UTC)

Until the Texture Update, the acacia and dark oak textures were the same to oak, along with birch (although birch is always colored differently, no matter what biome). β€”71.220.202.145 23:26, 4 April 2020 (UTC)

Question

[edit source]
Latest comment: 27 July 20182 comments2 people in discussion

I don't understand the Block_states section:

 true The block will decay.
false The block will be checked for decay.

Compare this to https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Java_Edition_data_values#Leaves where it has two types of states:

no decay, and check for decay

both or neither of which can get set. I would have guessed "persistent" meant "no decay", not "The block will decay." –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Fredhead (talk β€’ contribs) at 01:46, 27 July 2018β€Ž (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

The Bedrock version states that the leaf blocks are not colored, but I couldn't find them. Where can I find it? Pneuma01 (talk) 10:22, 11 November 2019 (UTC)

I never saw a state, but they become white when it is snowing. FVbico (talk) 11:55, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
Ah, in snowing! I confirmed. Thank you. Pneuma01 (talk) 15:00, 11 November 2019 (UTC)

Leaves Texture in Bedrock Edition

[edit source]
Latest comment: 29 April 20254 comments4 people in discussion

While I was playing Bedrock Edition, I found if you place 6 blocks, each touching one side of a leaf block, it seems to show a compacted texture. Can somebody confirm this? Thank you in advance. β€”98.230.115.82 13:56, 4 April 2020 (UTC)

This probably has to do with the rendering engine, not the block itself. The BlobsπŸ‘ Image

Don't Oak and Dark Oak Leaves have the same texture in Java Edition? can someone confirm and write in Trivia?–Preceding unsigned comment was added by Deathcounter (talk β€’ contribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Oak nad Dark Oak leaves use pretty simillar textures - but still different. Oakar567 (talk) 18:35, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
They USED to be the same, they aren't since the texture update. FVbico (talk) 18:41, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

Jungle leaves drop oak saplings and apples

[edit source]
Latest comment: 1 August 20214 comments3 people in discussion

I just broke maybe a thousand jungle leaves. I received one jungle sapling, but twenty-one oak saplings and even one apple.

This could be a bug or it could be by design. The drop rate is low (as always for jungle tree canopies), but getting the vast majority to be oak products doesn't seem right.

I tried to change the tables, but I don't have the expertise. Can someone please fix the table to show that jungle leaves can (and probably will) drop oak saplings and apples.

Thanks! SirDaddicus (talk) 18:44, 26 December 2020 (UTC)

Doubt this is true, not all leaves in jungle biomes are jungle leaves, all leaves on the ground, and several actual trees are oak, not jungle. Additionally, the loot tables are clear, there's no apple or oak sapling option for jungle leaves. Dhranios (talk) (Join the wiki videos project!) 19:19, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
I stripped several trees from the ground to as high as I could reach. But, most of them were closer to the ground.
When you say "the loot tables", what do you mean? In the code? SirDaddicus (talk) 22:55, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
It is an internal data structure used to determine the drops of entities, blocks, and other objects. 00001H (talk) 08:30, 1 August 2021 (UTC)

Cherry Leaves

The texture of the Sprite of the Cherry Leaves does not seem to be the latest. By the way, the Copper Horn is also. And the Sprite of Torchflower Seeds, certain Pottery Shard and Smithing Template looks a bit fuzzy. Fengjingzi (talk) 14:56, 9 April 2023 (UTC)

Mangrove Leaves

[edit source]
Latest comment: 17 December 20232 comments2 people in discussion

The table indicates that Mangrove Leaves themself drop Mangrove Propagules, but they do not. Tested in survival (maybe a few hundred) and got none, then tested in creative mode by using the fill command (filled 3570 blocks with leaves, then fill the same blocks with stone). Also tested that this method of testing is valid by doing the same for Oak Leaves and got the expected drops (lots of sticks, Oak Saplings and Apples). Also, this testing seems to show that Mangrove Leaves have a significantly lower droprate for sticks (maybe 5 sticks from 3570 Mangrove Leaves). Testing was on 1.20.2 Java Edition Arielhs (talk) 10:39, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

Can confirm, looking at the loot table, the only things that Mangrove Leaves are able to drop are a) sticks and b) the block itself. Propagule is not a possible drop. For sticks though, it seems to be a 1/50 chance, just like the table says. --Melwin22 (talk) 12:29, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

Frosted mangrove leaves

[edit source]
Latest comment: 23 December 20231 comment1 person in discussion

The BE snowy leaves gallery section is missing a render for mangrove leaves. Could somebody add one?

(that said, it's interesting that these are given a render section in the gallery at all, given that there are eight distinct phases of them and they are essentially situational biome coloration) ShadowMistress (talk) 20:17, 23 December 2023 (UTC)

Un-hiding the different sub-sections in Gallery section

[edit source]
Latest comment: 2 December 20245 comments3 people in discussion

The sub-sections 'Java Edition', 'Bedrock Edition', 'Graphics mode is set to "Fast" in Java Edition', Graphics mode is set to "Fast" in Bedrock Edition' and 'Snowy leaves' under the section 'Gallery' are hidden. No other page in my knowledge has hidden sections in galley (No pages that use the current style guide has it). I would have removed it but I think there should be a discussion on this topic. Hence, I propose that the sub-sections should be un-hidden. - πŸ‘ Image

Strong Oppose - I believe that all subsections within the Galleries on every page (even when subgallery pages are made) should be hidden so that readers who don’t like galleries don’t need to see any subsection they don’t want to see. They would be able to click on each one they want to see without having to look at any they do not want to see.Drour1234 (talk) 12:46, 1 December 2024 (UTC)

Your argument is great but as of now, none of the pages in my knowledge that are complying with the Wiki Style guide have sub-sections in the Gallery section hidden. If there is a mass edit in which all sub-sections in Gallery section of every page is to be hidden, then the Gallery section of this page will remain unchanged. - πŸ‘ Image

Weak support. I don't mind seeing the galleries, and they load anyway regardless of being hidden. At least someone looking at the page can have an idea of why it took so long to load. If we're going to hide stuff, then History, Trivia, and Galleries should all be hidden, because their value is minimal to a reader looking for information about the game.– Unsigned comment added by Anachronist (talk β€’ contribs) at 05:34, 2 December 2024 (UTC). Leaves ->Leaf Litter

[edit source]
Latest comment: 17 January 20252 comments2 people in discussion

After the addition of leaf litters, the overworld logs will no longer be the only input and fuel, in furnaces. It says logs are the only block that can be used this way in the trivia, although it most likely refers to the latest full or half update, and not snap-shots. 2600:1702:5DF0:1AE0:49E8:4519:B9E1:6304 01:21, 17 January 2025 (UTC)

Regular leaves can't be used as fuel, and leaf litter can't be used as input, so the trivia about logs still applies.--Capopanzo (talk | contribs) 01:29, 17 January 2025 (UTC)

Add that falling on leaves to take fall damage requires 5 blocks as opposed to 4 blocks if fall on normal block.

the line "Pale oak leaves were shown at Minecraft Live 2024." is next to an image that feels kinda misleading, yes, the minecraft live leaves were tinted, but we never saw them with the bright green tint, just the pale garden's tint

Poplar leaves are currently looking like a custom dirt texture in the image section. They should be split into 3 sections; red, orange, and yellow respectively since those generate uniquely on each poplar tree and should use more accurate fan-made renders until snapshots and betas are released for the third drop of 2026.
