The event was streamed by contestants on their respective platforms and broadcasted on the official MinecraftTwitch and YouTube channels, with ChelseaBytes and Jvckk as the hosts.[3]
The main rosters teams were announced on July 18-19, 2024, consists of 10 teams of 4 contestants on each team, making it 40 contestants in total.[2][4]
Unlike most MCC events, this MCC has a reserves list. This was made in case if any of the main rosters were unable to participate in the event.[5] A total of 10 backup contestants are listed here:
This edition of MC Championship consists of 8 games themed around different Minecraft updates to celebrate its 15th anniversary and a final. The winners receive a unique, physical trophy of the Ender Cup for the event.[6]
Sky Battle is a team-based Battle Royale game mode where the last team standing wins, but on islands flying above the void. Players must build bridges to move around the map and find loot in chests scattered the map.
For the Ender Cup, Sky Battle map was called "Coral" and were themed around the Update Aquatic (1.13) and the Village & Pillage (1.14) update, with the map being based on oceans, villages, and pillager outposts.[7] Unlike most other MCC events, Sky Battle uses tridents as the main starter weapon.
Survival Games is a team-based Battle Royale game mode where the last team standing wins. Players must find loot (such as weapons, food and armor) in chests hidden across the map. As the timer counts down, the world border progressively converge towards the center of the map. Players will earn coins by killing other players or mining airdrop crates.
For the Ender Cup, Survival Games map was called "Biomefield" and were themed around 1.0.0, the first full version of the game. Thus, it focuses on some structures such as desert temples and villages, and some biomes such as the End.[8]
Parkour Warrior consists of a parkour race composed of different leaps. Each leap must be completed before the timer runs out, or the player starts taking damage. Once the player's health reaches zero, they are out.
For the Ender Cup, Parkour Warrior were themed around the Alpha and Beta development cycles of Minecraft.[9]
Ace Race consists of a multi-lap race relying on mechanics such as jump pads, tridents enchanted with Riptide, gliding, and swimming. Traps and shortcuts are scattered across the track.
Meltdown is a PVP game set in a labyrinth where are scattered crates of coins. Players have bows that freeze their enemies once hit. Once a player is frozen, they are stuck in an ice block until a teammate uses a heater near them. Meanwhile, the labyrinth melts, pushing players closer and closer to the center.
For the Ender Cup, Meltdown map was called "Bastion" and were themed around the Nether Update (1.16).[11]
In Hole in the Wall, players must stay on a platform by dodging moving walls made out of slime blocks. As the game progresses, the platform shrinks. Players gets coins whenever another player dies before them, and if they finish in the top 3. It consists of 3 rounds.
For the Ender Cup, Hole in the Wall map was called "Ocean Monument" and were themed around the Bountiful Update (1.8) as it features slime blocks and is taken place in an ocean monument.[12]
To Get to the Other Side (most commonly referred to as TGTTOS) consists of a race in which players can punch each other to deal knockback and must hit a chicken to complete the race and win coins. Because there are fewer chickens than players, players must help their teammates to get more coins.
Grid Runners is a game first featured during MINECON Earth 2018[14] which consists of a puzzle race. Each team must complete a same series of 8 rooms featuring different challenges such as puzzles, shooting galleries and crafting challenges. Coins are awarded based on the ranking of each team for each individual room as well as the overall ranking.
Dodgebolt is the final game of MC Championship events. It is played between the two teams having scored the most points during the 8 main games to determine the event's winner. Inspired by the real life game of Dodgeball, contestants are given a bow and an arrow and must defeat the other team in a best-of-five match.[16]
For the Ender Cup, Dodgebolt were themed around the Ender Cup itself.
Noxcrew refers to the Combat Update as the "End Update" on the Ender Cup website.[13]
During the timeline sequence before the Dodgebolt game, several previously unnamed updates were given names, including "The Jungle Update" for 1.2 and "The Villager Trading Update" for 1.3.
