Fred was an admin and a close friend of Xara and Romeo. The three had conflicts, ultimately leading to Fred's death at Romeo's hands. Despite Romeo's shortcomings, Fred still considered him a friend. He possessed knowledge about removing an admin's powers, which Jesse and the others later obtained.

Fred had the larger character build. In his admin form, his face and hair were blue colors, his eyes were red, and his armor was blue with sea green stripes.

Fred's hologram record and journal show that he cared deeply about his friends. Despite knowing that he could be killed at any time, he believed that Romeo could be redeemed. He also had no intentions to conquer other worlds, unlike Romeo. He was also mentioned to be kindhearted.

Before Fred was killed by Romeo during their fight, he used to be friends with Romeo and Xara. They together created a world, now known as underneath, and lived in a cabin. Fred has created Fred's Keep, a town for his people, where he had lived in his house. Following the creation of the new world above the underneath,^[verify] Fred planted glowing mushrooms around his town to prevent monsters from spawning and attacking people.

In an argument between Romeo, Fred, and Xara, Romeo challenged the two Admins and killed Fred in the process. Xara reveals that through a "slow" process, Fred was killed in front of her in a room. Fred went to Romeo with the "best of intentions" and was killed instead.

Before Fred's death, he created a gold gauntlet that could strip Romeo's powers.

Xara was a known friend of Fred as she was a fellow admin who helped Fred construct the underneath and several buildings residing in it. Presumably during the rising tension between Fred and Romeo Fred made a holographic guide to tell Xara how to use the gauntlet in the terminal zone. This showed Fred trusted Xara and saw her as reliable company before his death.

Fred and Romeo’s relationship seemed fine at first. They were on good terms until tensions unexpectedly began to rise between him and Romeo. Eventually, it had gotten to a point where Fred was trying to peacefully reason with Romeo. However, Romeo used brute force to solve this conflict, eventually leading to Romeo killing Fred and ending his life.

• Above and Beyond

• Fred was originally a temporary name because "Fred" rhymed with "dead".^[1]
• Although he is never shown alive, there are some facts about him that are revealed by other characters.
  • Fred's favorite tool was a diamond hoe, as mentioned by Hilda.
  • Fred's favorite color was lapis-blue, as mentioned by Wanda.
  • Fred's favorite wood was birch, as mentioned by Xara.
  • Fred's favorite food was bread, as mentioned by Kent.
  • Fred had a chicken named Waffles, as mentioned by Willy.
  • Fred had a horse named Nugget, as mentioned by Binta.
• Fred and Jack have the same voice actor.
• If Jesse chooses "Not at all" after Fred's record comes to "Do you understand?", it replays the explanation of the functioning of the gauntlet, and repeats if "Not at all" is still chosen. However, Jack eventually explains in his own words after a bit.
• Fred owns a book by Soren titled A Brave New Enderman which is kept in his house.
