Soren the Architect, often referred to simply as Soren, is the elusive leader of the Order of the Stone and is renowned for his skills as a legendary architect. Unlike the other members of the Order who remained in the public eye, Soren went missing prior to the events of the game. Jesse and their friends are later tasked with finding and recruiting him.

He is a pale man with ginger hair with a moustache and beard, who wears sandy colored armor with black accents. He has fingerless, grey gloves and brown pants. Prior to The Last Place You Look, he wore a grey hardhat and tan goggles.

Soren appeared to be an eccentric, impulsive, and a complete genius in his first few appearances. He is not good at socializing and seems to not care about lying. He was not above putting himself in danger to conduct his research in endermen, risking his life to study them, and spoke of a desire to be anything other than Soren the Architect, like a donkey for example. He is the discoverer of the command block, and he grew to be dependent on it after realizing what it could do, becoming a coward in the process.

During his time in the End, Soren grew a fascination for endermen, studying them and even attempting to train some on how to build. Furthermore, he prefers endermen more than anyone because unlike people, endermen always do what he expects without a single thought of betrayal, almost to a fault. In "A Block and a Hard Place", it is revealed that Soren even worries for the safety of endermen when he sees a few of them approaching the wither storm, fearing that they will get themselves killed.

While Soren seems reluctant to reconnect with the others, it is evident that he still holds concern for his former allies, including Magnus. After Magnus is injured by the wither storm, Soren quickly moves to help, trying to reassure him and downplaying the seriousness of the situation. When Magnus later passes away, Soren takes it hard, brushing off any mention of him with visible frustration.

Although Soren may not be eager to reunite with his old friends, it is clear that he still cares about them, including Ellegaard. This is evident when she is struck by the wither storm. Soren immediately rushes to her aid, offering words of comfort and insisting she will be fine, even scolding her when she acknowledges what is really happening. Her death leaves an impact on him, as shown by how he quickly and angrily deflects any mention of her afterward.

• Soren only wore his hat in the flashbacks.
• Soren has aviophobia, the fear of flying. This is revealed in A Block and a Hard Place if Gabriel contracted mad wither, when everyone is on the flying machine heading to Ivor's laboratory. Gabriel will mention that Ellegaard built a machine like that some time ago, and that Soren was terrified on riding it. Jesse can use this fact against Soren when picking "You're FULL of it." option.
• In the Minecraft: Story Mode skin pack on console and Bedrock Edition of Minecraft, there is a skin that shows what Soren looks like without his armor.
  • This skin is present in the Minecraft: Story Mode files. However, it's used in place of the armored appearance in the Netflix version.
• In Hero in Residence, if Radar is not interrupted for a certain amount of time, he mentions a group known as the "Followers of Soren". Jesse was supposed to a have lunch with the group.
• Though the battle with the ender dragon is the only mission of the old Order of the Stone to be revealed as a fraudulent, Soren can determinately say in A Block and a Hard Place that the Order doesn't even stand a chance without the command block Gabriel was rescued in The Order of the Stone.
  • Magnus or Ellegaard can also determinantly tell Gabriel that the other was the only member of the Order who didn't need the command block.^[verify]
• Occasionally, if Jesse looks at the window from the second story of Soren's laboratory, in the left bottom corner, Soren in his enderman disguise can be seen.
• During The Last Place You Look, Soren sang a song in his laboratory.
