A bow is a weapon used for ranged defense.

Bows are made with wood and string, which consist of a grip for the user to hold, and a string used to shoot arrows. Crossbows are made similarly to bows, but have handles with a trigger to shoot the arrows.

Because of the bow's ranged attacks, it allows the user to easily shoot targets and enemies from far away.

Crossbows were weaponized by piglins many years ago. When Steve entered the Nether, Archie is wielding one. On the first night, skeletons are wielding bows with a purple glint that shoot flaming arrows, as if enchanted. Archie continues to use his crossbow until his death in the creeper farm. During the Great Darkening, multiple hoglin riders use crossbows. Travis shoots the Golem of Swiftness with his, provoking the iron golems into attacking.
