This is a list of Java Edition features whose display names have changed over time. These features include blocks, items, entities, and biomes.

Features where "version added" is listed as "~" received their display names in Beta 1.0. Before then, in-game blocks and items had no visible names.

Nether

"Hell" was one of the placeholder names used during development of The Nether dimension, with the other being The Slip.[1] It was renamed once more in 1.16 to distinguish itself from the newer Nether biomes and the dimension itself. ~ 1.13 (18w19a)

Mountains
