Set up Apple Pay on iPad

Using Apple Pay can be simpler and safer than using a physical card. Your actual card number is never shared with merchants, and each transaction uses a unique security code. With your cards in Apple Wallet, you can use Apple Pay wherever it’s accepted in stores, for transit, in apps, and online.

Note: Apple Pay and its features aren’t available in all countries or regions. See the Apple Support article Countries and regions that support Apple Pay.

Add a debit or credit card for Apple Pay

You can add an eligible card from a participating issuer. To check if your card is compatible with Apple Pay, contact the issuer.

To add a card, look for “Add to Apple Wallet” or “Add to Apple Pay” in your bank or card issuer’s app. You can also add your card directly to the Wallet app:

Go to the Settings app 👁 Image
on your iPad.
Tap Wallet & Apple Pay, then tap Add Card. You may be asked to sign in to your Apple Account.
Add any of the following types of cards:
- A new card: Tap Debit or Credit Card, tap Continue, then position your card so that it appears in the frame, or enter the card details manually.
- Apple Card: See Use Apple Card on iPad.
- Your previous cards: Tap Previous Cards, then choose any cards you previously used. These cards may include the card associated with your Apple Account, cards you have in Apple Wallet on your other devices, and cards you saved for AutoFill. Tap Continue, then follow the onscreen instructions.
- A card from a supported app: Below “From Apps on Your iPad", tap the app of your bank or card issuer.
Verify your information with your bank or card issuer. They may ask you to provide more information or to download an app before approving your card for use with Apple Pay.

Set up Apple Pay when switching to a new iPad

During setup on a new iPad, you can add your cards to Apple Wallet. Follow the onscreen instructions for each card.

View card details and change settings

Go to the Settings app 👁 Image
on your iPad.
Tap Wallet & Apple Pay, then tap a card.
Do any of the following:
- Tap Transactions to view your recent history. To hide this information, turn off Show History. To view all your Apple Pay activity, see the statement from your card issuer.
- View the last four digits of the card number and Device Account Number—the number transmitted to the merchant.
- Change the billing address.
- Remove the card from Apple Pay.
