About AutoMix

If you’re using iPadOS 26 or later and listening to music from the Apple Music catalog, AutoMix seamlessly transitions between songs, like a DJ.

AutoMix automatically selects the best transition, depending on the music. For example, AutoMix might remove silence at the beginning and end of a track, or perform a simple crossfade, rather than a more complex transition, when appropriate.

Note: Albums and some genres play without transitions.

AutoMix is on by default, but you can turn it off, either in the queue, or in Settings.

Turn on Crossfade

You can set the Music app to fade in each song (gradually increase its volume) while the previous song is fading out—this is called crossfading.

  1. Go to the Settings app 👁 Image
     on your iPad.

  2. Tap Apps, then tap Music.

  3. Tap Song Transitions, then turn it on.

  4. Tap Crossfade, then drag the slider to choose the length of the crossfade.
