A chicken is a flightless bird-like creature which instantly turns into cooked food upon fire-related deaths.

Appearance

[edit | edit source]

Being cubic poultry, chickens have white feathered bodies with orange and red skin tones featured in their bill, wattle, legs, and eyelids. Coming in at about a meter in height, they're rather awkward creatures with useless-looking wings and an irregular posture somewhat similar to Earth chickens. However, despite their name and their similarities to their Earth counterparts, chickens also share a lot in common with ducks, possessing bills and webbed feet.

Behavior

[edit | edit source]

Typically chickens are docile, rather clueless poultry, often used as a form of livestock both by the villagers and Steve. However they are also shown to be rather aggressive animals, as the chicken jockey's chicken is portrayed rather viciously, and later in the film the chickens spawned from Steve's battle eggs are shown biting and attacking Malgosha's face. Even the chickens featured at Steve's Lava Chicken! are shown briefly attacking each other within their pen.

Chickens presumably lay their eggs, however this does not occur in the film.

Biography

[edit | edit source]

At an unknown point, Steve questioned what would happen if he mixed chickens with lava. To resolve the problem, he opened up a shop in Midport Village called Steve's Lava Chicken. Here, he roasts chickens alive using a redstone contraption that douses the chicken in lava, killing it instantly. This process is shown to the misfits as they're introduced to the town's culture, with Steve taking a bite of a fresh and hot roast chicken. Despite Steve evidently regretting it and warning it should be cool first, Garrett took to biting off far more of it, embarassing himself in the process.

Later in the film, during a heist conducted at the Woodland Mansion to retrieve a new Earth Crystal, Garrett and Steve would be captured by the vindicators and forced to engage in the illagers’ fighting ring. Initially, they are led to believe that a chicken is their one opponent, when in fact it's a chicken and its baby zombie rider; a chicken jockey. Garrett and Steve put up a fight against the chicken jockey, eventually winning once they launch the baby zombie out of the arena, causing it to cry.

During the climax of the film, Steve utilizes a clutch of chicken eggs as a weapon against the evil piglin queen Malgosha, throwing them at her. Once the eggs crack open they hatch baby chickens who immediately bite and latch onto Malgosha's face.
