Choose iPhone settings for travel

When you travel with iPhone, choose settings that comply with airline requirements. Some airlines let you keep your iPhone turned on if you switch to Airplane Mode. When you turn on Airplane Mode initially, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth®, and cellular networks turn off. However, you can turn Wi-Fi, Bluetooth®, and cellular networks back on even when Airplane Mode is on. This allows you to make or receive FaceTime calls or use features or accessories that require wireless communication.

To choose settings that minimize cellular charges when you travel, see View or change cellular data settings on iPhone.
