Upgrade to the new version of Apple Home on iPhone

iOS 16.2 introduced a new version of Apple Home that’s more reliable and efficient. For availability and details, see the Apple Support article Update Apple Home.

Before you upgrade, make sure that Apple devices connected to your home are using the latest software. This includes any owner’s devices and any shared users’ devices.

Note: A home hub such as Apple TV 4K or HomePod is required for features such as remote access, sharing your Home, notifications, automations, HomeKit Secure Video, and Lighting. iPad is not supported as a home hub with the new version of Apple Home. You can continue to use the Home app on iPad to connect and control your smart home accessories.
