Golden armor is a type of armor made from gold ingots. It is the fifth strongest armor, between chainmail and copper.

Zombies, husks, skeletons, strays, and bogged have a small chance to spawn wearing armor, with a 33.29% change of it being golden armor. Additionally, each armor slot of a piglin independently has a 10% chance of being filled with a golden armor piece upon spawning. There is a 8.5% chance (9.5% with Looting I, 10.5% with Looting II and 11.5% with Looting III) for the mob to drop the armor they're wearing upon death unless they are spawned from an ominous trial spawner. The dropped armor are usually badly damaged, and may be enchanted with enchantment levels 5-19.
Wearing golden armor reduces damage taken from most damage types and pacifies piglins.
When a full set of golden armor is worn, the set provides 11 (๐ ๐ก
ร 5.5) armor points.
Wearing armor reduces incoming damage according to two values: armor, and armor toughness. Each piece of armor provides a given armor and armor toughness value, and the values from each armor piece are added together when calculating damage reduction.
The strength of incoming damage also determines the damage reduction of worn armor, as armor does not protect in a linear fashion.

In Java Edition, piglins are neutral toward players wearing at least one piece of golden armor. As of 1.21.2, this behavior is controlled by the piglin_safe_armor tag, which includes golden armor by default, allowing data packs to designate other armor types as safe. In Bedrock Edition, piglins are neutral only toward players wearing golden armor.
All pieces of golden armor can also be used to distract piglins. Piglins equip them, prioritizing it over all other armor materials, after inspecting them.
Players can equip golden armor by placing it in their inventory, using the item, or via a dispenser. When equipped, the armor is rendered. Some other humanoids can also render the armor, pick it up, equip it, and be equipped via a dispenser; see the table below.

In Java Edition, with the exception of the allay, dolphin, fox, and panda, all other mobs with the CanPickUpLoot nbt tag true (1b) can equip armor from a dispenser (except happy ghast), and pick up and equip if are without armor or have worse armor (except ender dragon). All living entities can equip armor using commands, like /item or /data.
