Treetop Tangle is the third island realms mission in Minecraft Dungeons. It is unlocked after the completion of Creeper Woods, and completing Treetop Tangle does not unlock any missions. Treetop Tangle is counted as a boss mission for Apocalypse Plus progression, due to it containing the Treetop Whisperer.

Treetop Tangle is a remote collection of colossal trees coated in a thick layer of fog set at night. The Orb of Dominance has corrupted the trees here, causing them to become massively overgrown and giving them a glowing pink internal core. It is composed of long pathways on branches and leaves, as well as ruins and villages carried high into the sky by the overgrown trees. It features jungle foliage, glowing mushrooms, torches, parrot statues, ambush pillars that secrete poison, waterfalls, lilypads, small water pools, and cobwebs. At the start of the mission, the heroes must traverse an overgrown swamp towards the north-east to reach a small arena with an ambush pillar infront of a giant tree. Defeating the ambush grants access to the entrance door of Corrupted Tree, a dimly-lit interior within a tree trunk made up of thin wooden pathways. At the top of Corrupted Tree, another entrance door can be found that leads to Corrupted Tree Middle, another section of the tree's interior. Corrupted Tree Middle contains an ambush that must be cleared to gain access to an entrance door leading to Corrupted Tree Top. Corrupted Tree Top is the final section of the first colossal tree in Treetop Tangle, and it contains two exit doors that return to the main path of the mission, one of which leads to an isolated branch with a single common chest. Traversing across the thin branches, tall cobblestone monoliths, and canopies of leaves will eventually lead to a collection of stone brick ruins. These ruins contain several buttons that must be activated to lower a gate, granting access further into the mission. Shortly after, an uprooted village spread across the branches can be found that contains another five buttons that, when activated, will lower another gate. Halfway through the mission, the entrance to the interior of a second colossal tree called The Web can be found. The Web is similar in appearance to the interior of the first colossal tree, but is covered in webs and features an optional ambush of spiders. It contains two exit doors that return to the main path, one of which is blocked by a gate that can only be lowered by destroying the three spider spawns. The exit door that was not blocked by a gate features an optional fight with an enderman, while the other leads further into the mission. Shortly after, an area with a large water pool can be found, which contains a yellow locked gateway and a gold key golem used to open it. Near the end of the mission, the entrance to the interior of a third and final colossal tree, called Final Climb, can be found. Final Climb contains a supplies chest and a button that, if activated, spawns a common chest and lowers a gate that was blocking the higher of the two exit doors. Both exit doors lead back to the main path of the mission, however the lower exit door contains a gate opened by a button found in the higher exit door, so the higher of the two must be entered first. After lowering the gate, an uprooted temple can be reached that is blocked by a gate opened using two switches. Lowering the gate grants access to an arena that contains an ambush and a battle with the Treetop Whisperer. Successfully defeating the Treetop Whisperer grants access to a treasure room populated with gold and emerald blocks, emerald urns, and a fancy chest. A wooden lift can be used to descend from the colossal tree, ending the mission.
