| 1.0 | Added language files. Their names take the format of "en_US.lang". | ||||||
| To define translations, they used "[translation key]=[translation]". | |||||||
| Java Edition | |||||||
| 1.6.1 | 13w16a | All language files except en_US.lang were removed from the jar. | |||||
| 13w26a | en_US.lang is now located in the assets/minecraft/lang folder instead of the lang folder of the jar. | ||||||
| 1.11 | 16w32a | Changed name format to "en_us.lang". | |||||
| 1.13 | 18w02a | Languages now use JSON, and use "en_us.json". | |||||
| 1.19.3 | 22w42a | Language files are no longer tied to the game version now, which means old strings are still reserved in the language while new strings get added from time to time so that the old versions can still receive changes with translations. However, versions prior to 1.19.3 can no longer receive changes with the language file. | |||||
| 1.19.4 | 23w07a | en_us.json is now sorted alphanumerically by key. | |||||
