The illagers are villager-like hostile mobs that spawn in various locations in Minecraft Dungeons.
The illagers are members of a cruel society in which the strong rule over all. Until the Arch-illager came along, they were never strong enough to pose a threat to the peace of the Overworld. Yet, now they are unified as an empire under the rule of the Arch-illager. Being the most numerous of his followers and minions, illager bands have grown bolder, being now capable of burning villages, destroying iron golems, and even enslaving villagers. Now, heroes must arise to oppose the illager empire, rescue the villagers, and save the Overworld...
In the descriptions of some items and the prequel novel of Minecraft Dungeons; The Rise of the Arch-illager, several things about the illagers have been explained.
- illagers lived in tribes. One of the tribe's known locations was at the woodland mansion.[1]
- Initially the illagers lived separately, roamed the lands each to themselves. Unfortunately, the mobs attacked and destroyed them one by one, which made them decide to unite, so the tribal system began to be implemented.[2]
- The illagers value cunning, cruelty, and the most is strength. Showing a sign of weakness in front of others could be lethal.[2]
- illagers were hostile to undead mobs until the Arch-illager reached an agreement with the Nameless One.[3]
- illagers in general were raiders. They made their living by stealing from others, mostly villagers and heroes who let down their guard and fool enough to travel on their own.[4] Ironically, the penalty for stealing from fellow illagers was stiff, one of the tribe leaders meted out justice without mercy.[5]
- The illagers had never been able to fashion healing potions of their own, but they occasionally found or stole one from someone else like heroes or bartered with witches, making them only dispensed in case of emergency.[6] The Soul Healer is an alternative healing for illagers, it is common among the illagers of the woodland mansions.
- It seems that zombie illagers may exist, as the Nameless One mentioned that the Arch-illager could be turned into a husk by the undead or by the Nameless One themself.[3]
- It was mentioned about the existence of the ancient illager soldiers who wielded Maulers.
