0.0.19a[1] is a version of Java Edition Classic released alongside server version 1.5 on June 19, 2009, at 22:35 UTC, which added sponge and glass.[2]

Additions

[edit | edit source]

Blocks

[edit | edit source]

πŸ‘ Image
Glass
[1]

  • Glass is textured, but is semi-transparent.[3]

πŸ‘ Image
Sponge
[1]

  • Used to dry up a 5-block-wide area of water or lava around the sponge, 2 blocks to each side of it.[5][6]
  • Disappears after a while.[7]

Gameplay

[edit | edit source]

πŸ‘ Image
Hotbar
[1]

  • Visually displays available blocks.
    • Blocks beforehand were still available by pressing different number keys, but had no UI display.
  • The top texture is rotated such that the "down" (positive Y) direction of the texture is toward the top-left.
  • Different sides of items are shaded differently. If a fully white block existed, its top face would be fully white (
     #FFFFFF
    ), its left side
     #999999
    and its right side
     #CCCCCC
    : πŸ‘ Image
  • The appearences of existing blocks are as follows (glass, still water, flowing water, still lava and flowing lava appear entirely invisible, but are included in these tables for completion):

Changes

[edit | edit source]

[edit | edit source]

πŸ‘ Image
Lava

  • Texture changed from πŸ‘ Image
    .
    • Now have animated, and slightly different textures.

Sand

  • Removed from the hotbar because of a lack of space.[1][10]

πŸ‘ Image

[edit | edit source]

1 bug fixed

7 bugs reported

  • Sponges sometimes do not soak up water when placed and removed in certain ways, especially when water can flow in from above.[12]
  • Water cannot be seen through glass.[13]
  • Glass cannot be seen through water.[14]
  • Glass is invisible in darkness.[15]
  • Water has Z-fighting issues.[16]
