The warm ocean is a warm variant of oceans filled with coral reefs on a sand-covered floor. Tropical fish and pufferfish spawn here, and sea pickles can generate on the ocean floor.

Generation

[edit | edit source]

Warm oceans generate as ocean biomes in the highest temperature zones, often near deserts and mangrove swamps and less commonly windswept savannas. They can generate close to, but never border badlands biomes.

The warm ocean biome generates as both regular and deep ocean. Where deep warm oceans used to generate, warm oceans are simply twice as deep. This means that they can border both lukewarm oceans and deep lukewarm oceans, as well as mushroom fields.

Description

[edit | edit source]
πŸ‘ Image
The separate colors of each ocean variant in Java Edition

The warm ocean has an aquamarine water tone at the surface and often generates next to deserts and badlands. Like the lukewarm ocean, it has a stone floor covered with one layer of sand, however no dirt, clay or gravel generate at shallower areas.β€Œ[JE only] Occasional islands in the warm ocean are covered with grass blocks and default vegetation,β€Œ[BE only] or the beach terrain including sand and sandstone.β€Œ[JE only]

Warm oceans feature coral reefs and numerous sea pickles, though kelp does not naturally generate here. Because of the height of the coral reef, warm oceans can appear more shallow than other oceans, though the actual ocean floor is no less deep.

Shipwrecks and warm ocean ruins generate in the warm ocean, between the dense coral structures. Unique mobs that spawn here are pufferfish and tropical fish, however, cod and salmon cannot spawn. Zombie nautiluses use their coral variant.

With Vibrant Visuals and ray tracing, warm oceans use a coolish humid volumetric fog setting, which slightly fades the distance in an orange tint.

The following mobs naturally spawn here:
