The modified wooded badlands plateau or mesa plateau stone mutated is a rare variant of the wooded badlands that no longer generates since Caves & Cliffs: Part II, and was removed in Java Edition.

Description

[edit | edit source]

The modifiedwooded badlands plateau featured smaller plateaus and somewhat harsher terrain than the regular wooded badlands plateau, mimicking large plateaus that have weathered more over time. Because of the more variable elevation of the plateaus, more colors of stained terracotta were exposed. The generally lower elevation allowed significantly fewer oak trees to grow at the highest layers.

Eroded badlands replaced the usual thin desert border that this biome variant shared with other biomes, while beaches separated them from oceans.

Current

[edit | edit source]

In Bedrock Edition, modified wooded badlands plateaus in older worlds still received updates. When generated through single biome or behavior packs, they can also generate new blocks.

They appear similar to badlands, as the coarse dirt and grass layers with oaks no longer generate. Armadillos can spawn, and farm animals use their warm variants, but can only spawn on player-created grass blocks. Similarly, striped wolves can spawn here. Short dry grass and tall dry grass generates in patches between the dead bushes, and some cacti have cactus flowers. No unique music tracks play.

With Vibrant Visuals, modified wooded badlands plateaus have unique atmospherics, the sky is tinted turquoise-green at daytime and much brighter during the night, while the daytime horizon is tinted brown. Moonlight is more vibrant blue, and the warm color grading tints the environment more yellow, although color saturation is slightly lower.

Modified wooded badlands plateaus use the same mob spawning chances as wooded badlands.

The following mobs naturally spawn here:
