A shelf mushroom is a variety of fungus that grows on poplar trees. It has two sizes and causes entities to bounce when they fall on it.

Obtaining

[edit | edit source]

Breaking

[edit | edit source]

Shelf mushrooms can be broken instantly with any tool or by hand. A shelf mushroom also breaks if:

  • the block it is attached to is moved or destroyed.
  • water or lava flows into its space.
  • a piston tries to push it or moves a block into its space.

A shelf mushroom always drops itself when broken. If the shelf mushroom is large, 2 units are dropped.

Natural generation

[edit | edit source]
πŸ‘ Image
Shelf mushrooms on poplar fallen trees

Both small and large shelf mushrooms generate attached to poplar logs in dappled forests, on both standing and fallen trees.

Trading

[edit | edit source]

Wandering traders may sell 3 shelf mushrooms for 1 emerald.

Post-generation

[edit | edit source]

Poplar trees grown from poplar saplings can generate with shelf mushrooms attached to the logs.

Usage

[edit | edit source]

Shelf mushrooms can be attached to any block with a full side surface. Unlike red and brown mushrooms, shelf mushrooms do not have any light level requirement for placement and survival.

Bouncing

[edit | edit source]

Entities landing on shelf mushrooms bounce with 75% of the impact velocity; however, the entity still takes fall damage, similar to beds. The entity's fall distance is set to 50% of the actual distance fallen, which results in the entity taking slightly less than half of the normal fall damage.

Growing

[edit | edit source]

Bone meal can be used on a small shelf mushroom to grow it into a large shelf mushroom. Shelf mushrooms do not grow on their own.
