Java Edition 1.0

[edit source]
Latest comment: 6 September 20255 comments4 people in discussion

The first version of the official release, the second release of the Adventure Update and the last version Notch developed himself. There were some minor corrections I did - reformatting citations and removing junk from the "Trivia" section - and after that this is just a perfect article. I think File:Java_Edition_1.0.0.png won't be too bad to illustrate it. Arina (she/her) 18:42, 19 March 2025 (UTC)

Java Edition 1.1

[edit source]
Latest comment: 6 September 20258 comments5 people in discussion

The second version of the official release, the first version developed without Notch's involvement, and the first of only two major releases which didn't introduce any new blocks.

This one required from me basically no work - just some minor lead corrections.

As for the image, I think file:Java Edition 1.1.png would suit to illustrate this article, and it's really the only option available anyway. Arina (she/her) 12:22, 27 March 2025 (UTC)

I don't see anything about the version being developed without Notch's involvement, only that Jeb was the lead dev on this version. -- 👁 Image
MarkusRost (talk) 12:25, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
As stated in Java Edition 1.0.0, it is the last version of Minecraft Notch developed before he gave the creative development position to Jens Bergensten. Arina (she/her) 12:26, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
I support having either Java Edition 1.0 or Java Edition 1.1, but not both of them at the same time. We already had one featured article about a Minecraft version (Java Edition 1.9), having two of them featured in two weeks would feel repetitive and strip out the chances of giving other articles the spotlight. Outrowed (talk) 13:17, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
I'm not requesting them to be both featured at the same time. Btw I plan to make all articles about major releases featured. Arina (she/her) 13:36, 27 March 2025 (UTC)

Warden
Proposed summary
A warden is a powerful but avoidable hostile mob summoned by sculk shriekers in the deep dark biome. It attacks by swinging its arms downward or by using its sonic boom. The arm attack does more melee damage than any attack from any other mob, and the sonic boom cannot be blocked by obstacles or armor, making the warden one of the strongest mobs. Wardens are completely blind and rely on vibrations, smell, and touch to detect players and mobs.

Most of the writing focuses on the in-game mechanics of each mob, but it occasionally references things from outside the game, such as the killer bunny being immortalized in a popular comedic play, TNT in the anatomy of a creeper, the superstition of the chicken being a spy, and the origins of endermites being from between dimensions.

Far Lands
Proposed summary
The Far Lands were an unnatural terrain phenomenon that appeared on the hard limit of the world boundary, where the noise generators responsible for creating the shape of terrain stopped functioning properly due to an integer overflow. This resulted in a massive, spongy walls of terrain appearing around 12,550,821 blocks from the origin of a Minecraft world. They appeared as if they had been pulled and stretched apart, with layers of stones, dirts, and other blocks in the Overworld forming bizarre and fragmented formations. The insides of Far Lands were long tunnels, featuring sharp edges and extreme landscapes, and going further into the tunnels, the noise generators break down with even more bizzare terrains, these often being called the "Farther Lands".

They were fixed later on Beta 1.8 Pre-release, but still retain a legacy as one of the franchise's most famous glitches, even being referenced in other official games such as Minecraft: Story Mode and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Yeah, I'm afraid so. Looking back, I don't think it would fit nicely into the mainpage featured box. I wanted to keep some context surrounding its removal from the Beta era, as not to confuse newcomers thinking they're still on the modern Minecraft, when in fact they are not. I think we could shorten it by cutting off some technical information and keeping certain descriptions of the Far Lands:

The Far Lands were an unnatural terrain phenomenon that appeared on the hard limit of the world boundary (around 12,550,821 blocks from the world spawn), where the terraian generator stopped functioning properly due to an integer overflow. This resulted in a massive, spongy walls of terrain, and appeared as if they had been pulled and stretched apart, with layers of stones, dirts, and other blocks forming bizarre and fragmented formations. They were fixed later on Beta 1.8 Pre-release, but still retain a legacy as one of the franchise's most famous glitches, even being referenced in official games such as Minecraft: Story Mode and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Outrowed (talk) 08:29, 27 May 2025 (UTC)

Comment — I’d rather have the whole Far Lands segment be tidied up before having it pinned as a featured article. As it stands now, much of the Far Lands-related content (namely about the vertical Far Lands, the extreme horizontal Far Lands varieties, and especially how Far Lands would have generated post Beta 1.8) is in fact reliant on mods, despite Far Lands being a historical vanilla feature and the mods being out of the English wiki’s scope. — BabylonAS 08:34, 27 May 2025 (UTC)

Minecraft 4k was an edition of Minecraft developed for the 2010 Java 4K contest, where the entry games were required to be within four kibibytes (4096 bytes) in size. The initial version, released on December 2, 2009, was more limited than any other edition of Minecraft ever released to the public, including the pre-classic version that is available from the Minecraft Launcher. An update on December 4, 2009, changed the controls and added widescreen, more blocks, and the ability to place and destroy blocks.

The deep dark is a cave biome that generates deep underground beneath areas with a low erosion value. Usually, the deep dark is mostly within the deepslate layer, but it can still reach the stone layer. The deep dark is covered in large patches of sculk blocks surrounded by sculk veins, which include sculk-related blocks such as sculk shriekers, sculk sensors and sculk catalysts. The biome is dimly lit with the only natural light sources being sculk catalysts and lava. No mobs spawn in this biome, however, the warden may appear because of sculk shriekers.

Proposed summary
Breeze is a mob that spawns from the trial spawners in trial chambers. He attacks with his unique attack, he attacks with wind charges and then jumps up and it is very difficult to defeat him. He is supposedly an air elemental, and blaze is a fire elemental, and the Minecraft community thinks so because they look similar, but Mojang Studios have not confirmed this, so it is most likely not true.

I feel like someone needs to say this now. The featured article system isn't working properly because this whole page is flooded with bad nominations like this one. There are many grammar mistakes, the current FA even has terrible grammar. The wording looks like very simple English, feels repetitive and boring to read ("underground structure primarily found underground"), essentially duplicating the article intro in a bad way, while it should contain completely different things, maybe historical information or a fun fact. And the reasons - featuring an article should be because the article is exceptionally well-made, has had recent improvements, or if the subject is very actual, not because it's "common and popular".
I apologize if I sound rude, but you guys (MinecraftFan26 and HugEnder13) should spend more time on making quality nominations instead of flooding this page with new nominations every three days. MinecraftBedrockPlayer7 (talk) (contribs) 👁 Image

Flames of the Nether is the fourth DLC in Minecraft Dungeons and the second to be added in the Season Pass. It was added on February 24, 2021 and had Nether-themed missions, mobs, and items. It is also the only DLC to not feature a boss or any part of the Orb of Dominance's story.

Reason
This peculiar DLC not only added a whole lot of features and a dimension, but it is also not part of the main lore due to the absence of a corrupt shard. It's also a banal idea, but I haven't made mobs in my planned featured articles for a long time, so it's time to fix it, and I also noticed that I've never put rabbit variations in my planned featured articles, but it's time to show you Jumbo Rabbit. It's not a very important mob for the franchise, but it's a hobby for a little-known community because-that earth has been closed for a long time due to the covid-19 pandemic, and they have never played earth, and so-that they will enthusiastically look at mobs as well as this article that I chose, and it will be a hobby not only for the little-known community who have never played this game, but also for another community, if they've played earth, but it's also the first time they've heard of such a unique mob.

Earth:Make Stuff
Proposed summary
Make Stuff was a feature in Minecraft Earth that let players craft or smelt items. Players were able to craft and smelt items in Make Stuff. Players were able to select the buttons "crafting" or "smelting". Crafting and smelting in Make Stuff were only possible via pre-set recipes.

While crafting or smelting was underway, the interface offered the player an option to "finish now"; that is, complete the crafting job immediately by spending rubies. "Finish now" cost 1 ruby per minute of time remaining to craft or smelt.

Reason
Make Stuff is a also an important feature in Earth, where you have to complete tests, but it doesn't have much impact on the community because the article itself is already quite informative.

Earth:Boost
Proposed summary
A boost was an enhancement to a player ability. A boost's duration and intensity depended on its level. A player was able to spend rubies in the store to purchase boosts. Boosts were available as levels I, II, and III. The level of the boost determined its duration, intensity (if applicable), and cost. Boosts could also be obtained by scanning the undersides of collectible figurines called boost minis. There were 24 boost minis to collect, with each one providing a different type of level 1 boost.

Reason
Boosts are not as important as other pages, but they play a major role in increasing the levels that can be achieved, and this will affect the community and make them consider and admire its architecture.

Earth:Store
Proposed summary
The Store was a mechanic that allowed users to purchase various items in Minecraft Earth. In the Store, users could buy things such as Buildplates, Mobs of Me, and Boosts, using Rubies, which were the Store's currency. There was also another tab where users could buy these Rubies using real money.

Reason
The articles about earth are already coming to an end, and now all that's left are mobs, but I've found the last page where it's not mobs, it's a store that's an important aspect of earth, where you can read an article and wonder Why rubies are no longer for sale? and it's also a great article with several features.

Earth:Stormy Chicken
Proposed summary
Stormy Chicken was a variant of the chicken with a dark-gray head and light-gray feathers found exclusively in Minecraft Earth. Stormy chickens were of uncommon rarity, and had a 7.2% chance of being obtained from chicken tappables.
Proposed image
👁 Image
Reason
The article about stormy chickens is considered well-written. Plus, this chicken variant resembled the cold chicken which was added much later to the base game.

Earth:Tropical Slime
Proposed summary
A tropical slime was a variant of a slime with a water-based texture filled with tropical fish. Unlike other slimes, they only attacked the player when attacked, did not split into smaller slimes, and dropped tropical fish on death.
Proposed image
👁 Image
Reason
A little more peaceful variant of the slime, it also appeared in Minecraft Dungeons as a handy mob that granted oxygen on death.

MCE:Lobber Zombie
Proposed summary
Lobber Zombie is a zombie variant in Minecraft Earth that has two attacks: the first attack is a regular attack, where the zombie approaches and attacks mobs like a regular zombie, and the second attack is a ranged attack where the zombie throws rotten flesh at mobs.

Reason
I noticed that no one had nominated an article here for a long time, and I was the first to do so. This zombie is a rotten variation of a regular zombie that provides complete information about the mob, and I enjoyed its eerie atmosphere, which is why I nominated it here because I liked the design of the article.
